Easter in Africa

I have many fond and memorable experiences of Easter in Africa.

My first was in the village of Dorfor Adidome, where I lived for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I had attended church regularly in Saltpond with my dear host mother, Sister Irene, but I had been reluctant to pick favorites among churches in my village.

I had finally agreed to go to service and woke up thinking that my arm was asleep. A half hour later, around 5:30, I realized that I had two large circular bite marks on either side of my elbow, as if I had squeezed it in the crook of my elbow. We never did determine what it was, the guess was a spider.

The next Easter was the following year across the Volta River on the Greater Accra side. Brad and I, the closest volunteer , enjoyed local ostrich fajitas that were like heaven.

Last year my husband James and I spent in Mombasa, Kenya with a bunch of Brits. Fun times.

Happy Easter!
