Fabulous Day in Kabul

Today was sensational in every way. Refreshing and renewing. Fun and exciting.

My friend and I headed to our local favorite brunch site in the morning, after both being early birds for the weekend. We brought along with us materials to do collaging. This is something that I’ve picked up over the past year of so and have really enjoyed doing.

After having an excellent brunch, complete with mango smoothie, we started in on cutting out imagines and words from our stack of old magazines we’d been saving for this purpose. We spent the first bit going through all of the mags, chatting along the way of course. Then we headed into the fun of putting things together.

One thing I’ve done in the past is to focus on feng shui, and divide a collage into the different baguas that represent various areas of our lives. In the past I’ve done one collage covering all areas of life, each within their own feng shui zone, so to speak. You can look up more on baguas if you are interested, so I won’t explain here.

This time we decided to focus on one specific bagua for the full collage. I focused one collage on balance and health, with another on the future. My friend focused on abundance for one and marriage for another. It was great fun to see our creativity at work as we focused on where we want to be in our lives.

Fun was had by all and I’m certain that we managed to make more than one of the staff wonder how we could have so much fun spending hours going through cutting up pictures and putting them back together again. Just another of the quirks of foreigners I imagine!

Then I went and visited another friend in Kabul who is originally from Oregon and has the misfortune of both living and working in the basement. In addition to this she is the only foreign female staff, with twenty one guys, and isn’t allowed out to restaurants or shops. Needless to say, she was thrilled to have a drive-by visitor drop in, since her cell works only intermittently in the basement.

Lastly I finished the day up by chatting with my hubbie about all sorts of things and journaling, a habit that I’ve picked up again after years of being out of practice. A late end to another great weekend in Kabul, but so well worth every moment.

Cheers!

Miel
