Burqa Angel

As promised, I now present our lovely burqa angel who watches over and protects our house. Kabul isn’t a bad place to have an angel on your side, and we are lucky to have our house angel complete with burqa.

The decorating is nearly all done, though give us a week and we’ll probably have thought of some other festiveness to add to the part. Like I said in my last post, Christmas is all what you make of it. In a Muslim country such as Afghanistan we could just let all of our colleagues run off to Botswana, Canada, Dubai, Sudan, and the Philippines and roll over and play dead. Instead, we are filling the house with joy and fun.

Tonight we dressed the tree and put our burqa angel in her place. I knit a garland for the tree as well as hung my stockings in place. Another colleague sprang for some nice read place mats, and of course we still have our daffodils and tuberoses wafting fragrantly in the air.

We completed it all with some disco lights that puts you back in the day of sex, drugs and rock & roll.

Merry Christmas to All!

Miel

I think that your decorations are lovely. They are so homey and glow in a way that lights up the whole place. What a great way to celebrate the coming of the Prince of Peace. Merry Christmas to all.
