Living in a place like Kabul gives you unforeseen opportunities.

My colleague and I have been a powerhouse team in working out consistently since we’ve each returned from Switzerland and Singapore. We’ve been doing all sorts of videos, including kick boxing, ballet, pilates, aerobics, weight training, toning, and yoga.

Tonight we were headed down to do the New York ballet video and our other colleague happened to be walking on the treadmill as he played his rabab. (A rabab is a local string instrument similar to a small guitar) We of course commented that we live in a house of freaks, ourselves included!

We proceeded back up to my room (the gym is in the basement) and put on my iPod speaker system (don’t know how I ever lived without this miracle!) We started rocking out to Ben Harper, one of our favorites. Pretty soon we were grooving pretty hard and ending up going with the flow and starting to free style dance/work out.

We pumped it up, belly danced it, salsa danced, ran around like chickens with our heads cuts off, and generally just had a ball. We danced our hearts out for the next hour and a half plus, until we were sweating and panting and loving life. So much fun just to go where life sends you!

I know we are going to feel it in the morning, as I’m already feeling it now when I get up! I think it was a better work out than all of our videos!

Happy Spring!

P.S. Perhaps it was the full moon in alignment with the coming of spring! What ever it was, we loved it! 🙂

I love the way that you are so inventive in your arrangements. Take what you have and tweek it to fit the circumstances! Women really rock at doing that. Happy Easter!
