Kisses from Kabul

On my first time out of Afghanistan last week I was taken by the warm wishes I received. At the Kabul airport they first send you to a room for women to have your bags looked at before entering the parking lot. When I arrived they called over a woman who spoke a few words of English. She asked me what I did in Afghanistan. When I replied she wrapped me in an embrace, kissed me on both cheeks, and sent me dazed on my way. Just a friendly reminder of Afghans’ appreciation for our work here.
