Here we are on another last minute trip to Africa. The first in awhile, but it still brings back the same feelings.
A week ago the status was that maybe I would go to Burundi for a week and then on to Kenya for a week. Monday it was likely. Tuesday it was maybe. Wednesday it was maybe not. Thursday the trip was off. Friday morning it was yes, then maybe, then maybe not and then a final confirmation of yes at 2:30 in the afternoon.
Of course life goes on, my usual busy schedule was already packed, so I was left to start packing at 11 this morning after a 5k that I finished with a 7.9 min mile pace. Nice!
I still managed a nice dinner last night and lunch today with my husband. Plus a party last night in Capitol Hill with Rotary friends, squeezing in about 6 hours a sleep if I am counting generously. Plus a haircut in Dupont Circle at a pop up salon for charity.
Now I am taxiing through a soggy rain shower on the way to Dulles airport, luckily with time to spare. Glad for that as emergency vehicle speed by.
My agenda will be much more work than play, but I will report back in throughout my trip.
Off she goes!
