Hi Folks,

Yes, out of morbid curiosity I tallied up the miles that I’ll be taking on my trip that I depart for in the morning. It comes to a grand total of 26,000 miles. This is just over the distance around the earth at the equator. I recall doing a similar, though more complicated, tally for my first year abroad. It was 25,000 miles for my year in Finland. Now I’ll be doing the same in three weeks.

So I’m off tomorrow to with the routing of Kabul – Dubai – London – Boston – SF. I speak at a conference on Friday and then spend the weekend with family in SF. I jump on the red eye back to Boston on Sunday night, visit University of Massachusetts in Amherst for work on Monday and then have a conference for work the rest of the week. Next stop, DC. It will be both James’ and Suz’ Birthdays, so that should be fun. I’ll enjoy DC in the spring for until Thursday and then off to Oregon for a friends’ wedding and family visits. A week there and then back through Boston on my way back. Getting back will actually take four full days with the time difference and crappy connections!

I’ll try to keep folks updated as my adventures proceed and feel free to get in touch with me if we might overlap in the world.

Cheers,

Miel
